INTRODUCTORY INFORMATION -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Title of the dataset: ATR-FT-IR Spectra of Stone Age Adhesive Samples from the Eastern Baltic Area (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) Description: This dataset contains ATR-FT-IR (Attenuated Total Reflectance Fourier-Transform Infrared) spectra collected from Stone Age adhesive samples originating from archaeological sites in the Eastern Baltic region, covering Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. File format: All spectra are stored in the .spa format, which is the native binary file format used by Thermo Electron OMNIC software. Files can be opened and processed using OMNIC 9 or compatible versions. File naming convention: Files follow the naming convention: SITE_ID.spa SITE = abbreviated archaeological site name ID = unique sample identifier Contact information: For questions regarding the data files, please contact: Shidong Chen — shidong.chen@ut.ee Institute of Chemistry, University of Tartu, Ravila 14a, Tartu, Estonia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Data collection method: ATR-FT-IR analysis was conducted on Stone Age adhesive samples using a Thermo Scientific Nicolet 6700 FT-IR spectrometer combined with a Smart Orbit diamond micro-ATR accessory. Instrument specifications: - Spectrometer: Thermo Scientific Nicolet 6700 FT-IR - ATR accessory: Smart Orbit diamond micro-ATR - Detector: DLaTGS - Beamsplitter: CsI Spectral acquisition parameters: - Wavenumber range: 4000–225 cm⁻¹ - Number of scans: 128 - Spectral resolution: 4 cm⁻¹ - Zero filling: None applied - Apodization: Happ-Genzel Software: Data acquisition and spectral processing were performed using Thermo Electron OMNIC 9 software. The same software (or a compatible version) is required to open .spa files. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. DATA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- File format details: - Extension: .spa - Type: Binary spectral file (Thermo Scientific OMNIC native format) - Content: Single-beam or absorbance/transmittance spectra per sample Each .spa file contains one spectrum corresponding to one measurement of one archaeological adhesive sample.
