***General Introduction***
Under the research project PRG1919 qualitative interview study was carried out as a baseline study for the projectÕs further research step in the period Sept 2023 Ð May 2024. This Data describes the methodology and metadata of the Baseline Interview Study. It is being made public to act as supplementary data for publications.

The data in this data set was collected in the Centre for Migration and Urban Studies, Chair of Human Geography, Department of Geography, Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Tartu. 

This research project was made possible by a grant from the Estonian Research Council (PRG1919).

***Purpose of the Baseline Interview Study***

64 semi-structured interviews were conducted between October 2023 and May 2024 in 4 Estonian rural municipalities. This Baseline Interview Study formed the first step of a broader research project (2023Ð2027; ãRethinking smartification from the margins: Co-creating Smart Rurality with and for an Aging PopulationÒ, PRG1919, Estonian Research Council), to be followed by digital learning experiments with the rural elderly under the same project.

semi-structured expert interviews, 64 interviews with 73 individuals in total
