*** Capture TÜR ARH C-283 1919 (MSI capture of item with call number ARH C-283 1919) in 16-band Multispectral Imaging for University of Tartu Library internal research for mimeograph print recovery feasibility study *** Author: Aare Vesi Multispectral Imaging and Photography Laboratory, University of Tartu Library, Tartu Contact Information: Aare Vesi University of Tartu Library W. Struve 1 Tartu 50091 Estonia Additional contact information can be found on University of Tartu website . *** General Introduction *** The data included in this collection was captured from the following archived material: Call number: ARH C-283 1919 Item short description: Report of Tallinn City financial records; 1919. Unbound. In various levels of faded ink and other paper damage. Capture date and location: September 23-29 2022, University of Tartu Library Multispectral Imaging and Photography Laboratory. Reason for capture: research and validation in using MSI for recovery of faded mimeograph prints. Dataset contains captured and processed image data. The capture focus, optical alignment, flat field compensation and exposure compensation have been applied to the processed files. The result files have been processed through Phase One Rainbow software, corrections have been applied and then converted to TIFF. *** Purpose of the captures *** The purpose of these captures was to perform a feasibility study in using MSI for mimeographically duplicated prints with extensive ink fading. And to provide a full MSI dataset that correlates to the physically available and locally verifiable records in the library for further research. *** Capture equipment and software *** Camera: Phase One iXG 100MP Wide Spectrum Lens: Schneider Kreuznach RS 72 mm Narrowband LED Lights: Equipoise Imaging, Eurekalight 2001; two lights at either side of the captured object, placed at 45 degree angle Software: Phase One Rainbow MSI 2.3.0.9 See information about used LED wavelengths in "Description of the data" below. *** Rights *** These images are licensed for free use under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Users are free to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, and remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially with appropriate credit to University of Tartu Library. *** Description of the data in this data set and General File Conventions *** * The dataset contains the following archives: UTLIB-MSI_[CaptureSequence]: Data captured from multispectral imaging of and converted into TIFF files.
