Most of the data concerning Estonia were already gathered during Estonian Research Agency’s grant PUT 132 Humanist Greek in Early Modern Estonia and Livonia: a bridge to modern and ancient European culture (lead Janika Päll, Tartu UL, 1.1.2013-31.12.2016). The data were inserted by Janika Päll, partly also by Marilyn Fridolin. The columns include following information A. Author of Humanist Greek text: normalized name as in national bibliographies or biographies, including dates of life (exact or with floruit, ante/post). Existing common name variants are separated with “/”. For anonymuses, the year of occasion or print are given as floruit. B. Author as in the Humanist Greek text: full name as in the print/manuscript, including given titles. C. Role of the author: author, translator, in case of dissertations, combined with the roles of praeses or respondens. D. Other author: if the Humanist Greek text is a dissertation or translation, the normalized name of the respondent (resp) or the author of the source text (auth). E. Incipit: first line of the Humanist Greek text, as in print but with normalized orthography (spirituses, accents and final sigmas, capitalization), unless it is significant. Misspellings and typos are indicated with “[!]”. F. Heading of the Humanist Greek text in normalized orthography G. Prosodic type: prose – poetry (type of verse form), from a list of prosodic types (drop-down list in the database). In Latin. H. Length of text. For poetry and shorter prose texts: verse count (if metrical), line count for prose. For longer texts: count in pages, adding reference ‘page(s)’. I. Formal patterns and devices from a list of figurative features (drop-down list in the database). J. Genre of the Humanist Greek text: in Latin, from a list of genres (drop-down list in the database). If more than one genre, separated with ‘/’. K. Occasion: the occasion for the Humanist Greek text from expandable list of standard occasions, in English. If more than one occasion, separated with ‘/’. L. Date of occasion: exact date, if available, in the format “Year/Month/Day” (XXXX/XX/XX). The dates in Greek are converted to modern usage, the Greek variants are given in column AD. M. Text type: print, manuscript, epigraphy, internet source. N. Addressee of the Humanist Greek text: the name of the explicit addressee, whether named person, collectives or functions, when more than one person, their names are separated with “;”. O. Short title in normalised orthography with link to electronic catalogue, if available, preferable to the electronic catalogue of the country where the text was printed or ms is preserved. P. Normalized name of the Author/Praeses/Editor/Deliverer of the print, especially if different than for the Humanist Greek text (column A).
